A global biologics manufacturing company that specializes in producing high quality recombinant proteins and enzymes with a catalogue of thousands of products used for drug discovery and development is expanding their business development function and looking to hire a Business Development Manager for their Boston territory. This company has an extensive reputation of specialized services in drug manufacturing and innovation and is known as a leader in Contract Drug Manufacturing.

Position Overview

This role focuses on driving growth and expanding our market presence across various product lines, including recombinant proteins, cell and gene therapy enzymes, and reagents. The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in life sciences and have a strong background in laboratory research.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess market opportunities for our diverse product offerings, such as recombinant proteins, gene editing reagents, and cell therapy proteins.
  • Generate leads, develop sales pipelines, and actively seek new business opportunities through networking and attending industry events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including researchers, scientists, and decision-makers in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of business development strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations to potential clients.
  • Negotiate and finalize sales agreements, contracts, and licensing deals in collaboration with legal and senior management.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on business development activities, sales forecasts, and market trends to senior management.

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in biochemistry, molecular biology, biological/biomedical sciences, or related fields, with 0-3 years of sales/business development experience in the life sciences industry.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of laboratory research experience in areas such as recombinant proteins, antibody discovery, biochemistry, and immunological research.
  3. Strong understanding of technologies related to our product lines, including recombinant proteins, membrane proteins, and MHCs.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively convey complex scientific concepts to a diverse audience.
  5. Proven track record of driving business growth, meeting sales targets, and closing deals.
  6. Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess market trends, identify opportunities, and develop strategic plans.
  8. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
